Background & Musical Development

Jas Kayser is at the forefront of a new generation of drummers. She studied at Berklee College of Music, where she was mentored by Terri Lyne Carrington, Ralph Peterson, and Danilo Pérez, shaping her into a dynamic and versatile musician.

Band Leadership & Touring

As a bandleader, Jas leads her own project, Jas Kayser & Chums. She has also toured globally with Lenny Kravitz over the past two years, establishing herself as a powerful and genre-crossing performer on the international stage.

Solo Work & Releases

As a solo artist, Jas has released the EPs Unforced Rhythm of Grace and Jas 5ive (2022). Her music has received strong support across UK radio, including from Jamie Cullum on BBC Radio 2, Julian Joseph on BBC Radio 3, and Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC Radio 6 Music, as well as coverage from Jazz FM and Jazzwise.

Awards & Nominations

Her work has been recognised with several major accolades, including Jazz FM’s Breakthrough Act and the Parliamentary Jazz Award for Newcomer in 2021. She was nominated for Best Jazz Act at the MOBO Awards in 2022, and in 2024 received further nominations for the Composer’s Award and Modern Drummer’s Up & Coming Drummer poll.

Collaborations & Future Projects

Alongside her work with Lenny Kravitz, Jas has collaborated with artists such as Jorja Smith and Alfa Mist. She continues to develop her sound, with new music scheduled for release in 2026.
