Awards & Recognition

In September 2015, Christian Lindberg was voted “The Greatest Brass Player in History” by the world’s largest classical radio station, Classic FM. On 1 April 2016, he received the International Classical Music Award at the Gala Ceremony in San Sebastián, Spain. Previous recipients of this prestigious award include Esa-Pekka Salonen, Krzysztof Penderecki, and Charles Dutoit.

Christian Lindberg’s achievements for the trombone are often compared to those of Paganini for the violin and Liszt for the piano. His influence on the instrument has redefined its role in both solo and orchestral settings, establishing him as one of the most significant figures in brass performance.

Solo Career & Recordings

Lindberg has premièred over 300 works for the trombone, including more than 130 major concertos. He has also recorded over 100 solo albums, contributing extensively to the instrument’s repertoire and global recognition.

Honours & Distinctions

He has had an international solo competition established in his name and was voted Brass Player of the 20th Century alongside legends such as Miles Davis and Louis Armstrong. Today, he is widely regarded as a living legend in the world of classical music.
