Norwegian trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth has, since the beginning of her career, championed the trumpet repertoire across six continents. She is widely praised for her soulful, lyrical sound and collaborative approach to music-making. Known for her creative and open-minded artistry, Tine explores a broad repertoire spanning from classical works to contemporary compositions and new commissions.
Awards & Recognition
Tine has received numerous prestigious awards, including “Newcomer of the Year” at the 2013 Echo Klassik Awards and the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship in 2009. She was awarded second prize at the 2006 Eurovision Young Musicians Competition and later returned as a juror in 2016. In 2007, she became the first classical artist to win Newcomer of the Year at the Norwegian Grammy Awards (Spellemannprisen).
Recordings & Releases
In May 2021, Tine released the album Magical Memories for Trumpet and Organ, which was selected by Gramophone for its “Recording of the Year 2021” August selection and received a five-star review from BBC Music Magazine.
Orchestral Collaborations
Tine has performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras, including the Bamberger Symphoniker, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra Hamburg, Gürzenich-Orchester Cologne, Tonkünstler-Orchester Vienna, Philharmonia Orchestra, and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra at the BBC Proms.
Her international appearances also include collaborations with the Warsaw, Rotterdam, Oslo, Bergen, and Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestras, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Baltimore and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestras, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra, and Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
